The APRI score is a simple, non-invasive method used to estimate liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, particularly in patients with Hepatitis C.
Your estimated APRI Score is:
0
Interpretation Guide:
The APRI score measures the ratio of AST to its normal limit relative to the platelet count.
Formula: APRI = [(AST / AST ULN) / Platelet Count (10^9/L)] × 100
APRI = [(AST / AST ULN) / Platelet Count (10^9/L)] × 100
Example: A patient with AST of 120 IU/L, ULN of 40 IU/L, and Platelets of 150.
A score of 2.0 or higher is often used to predict the presence of cirrhosis with high specificity.
While most studied in Hepatitis C, it is also used in NAFLD and ALD, though cut-off values may vary.
As liver fibrosis progresses to cirrhosis, platelet production decreases while AST typically increases.
