Why is this correction used?
To assess bone marrow productivity accurately during anemia, ensuring the count isn't artificially inflated by a low red blood cell count.
What is a normal result?
Usually around 0.5% to 1.5% in healthy individuals, but it should be significantly higher in response to anemia if the marrow is functioning correctly.
What is the RPI?
The Reticulocyte Production Index is a further adjustment for the maturation time of cells, often used alongside this correction to provide a more detailed look at erythropoietic activity.
